Reminding Your Customers Of Your Business
By Steve Watson
Do you get a reminder from your dentist every 6 months for your next dental appointment? Well I do, I also appreciate this tremendously because normally I keep on forgetting when the last time I visited my dentist was. These types of reminders come from my blood bank, optometrist and the vet. I find this very useful as my life is a hustle and bustle continuously. Well this is our modern life that’s doing this to us all. For this to work in your business you need to keep good records of your customers and their detail. Let’s say that you have a car servicing business and from your records you know that certain customers travel more or less a fix amount of miles in a certain amount of months. So what do you do? Well mail them a reminder, but not just a “We see your car is due for a service, when can we expect you!”. This is what you do. Every three months you send out a scented closed envelope and out of curiosity your customer will open it. Inside they find a scented pine tree, Christmas tree or even a colorful scented flower. Now make sure your company detail is on the back of the scented item as this will remind them of you every time they see your scented item. Now with this scented item you sent them you include a short note informing them that you haven’t seen them for some time now and that the scented item has lost most of its scent by now, just like their oil is item. Now with this scented item you sent them you include a short note informing them that you haven’t seen them for some time now and that the previous sent scented item has lost most of its scent by now and this is your replacement and your business is always to their service. Most scented items usually only lasts for about 3 months at a time. Most of your clients will certainly enjoy and appreciate this type of personal attention. Now as the time comes for that oil change you sent them the same letter but this time you tell them that in the same way the scented item lost its scent so the oil in their car’s engine lost its usefulness. You’ll get one of your staff to contact them for setting an appointment. Now you can also include a discount coupon as most car services do cost a pretty penny. This will certainly sweeten the pot. Yes, these scented items and postage do cost but compared to what the service cost this is small change. Think out side the box, anything that will make your business stand out from the rest of the mechanics in the area. Be in your customer’s mind every single day that they drive their vehicle. Remember that this type of business practise can be used in all types of businesses. Your business, make it work.
